{"id":637,"date":"2016-12-15T14:45:49","date_gmt":"2016-12-15T19:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.universaltaxidispatch.com\/blog\/?p=637"},"modified":"2016-12-15T14:45:49","modified_gmt":"2016-12-15T19:45:49","slug":"uber-named-metras-ridesharing-partner-officials-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.universaltaxidispatch.com\/blog\/2016\/12\/uber-named-metras-ridesharing-partner-officials-say\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber Named Metra&#8217;s Ridesharing Partner, Officials Say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Uber was named the official rideshare\u00a0partner of Metra on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The partnership, which is scheduled to start in February 2017, will be a three-year agreement, Metra officials said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNow more than ever, it\u2019s essential that we look for creative ways to generate revenue that can impact our agency\u2019s bottom line,\u201d said Metra Executive Director\/CEO Don Orseno. \u201cIn addition to generating much-needed revenue for Metra, we believe this partnership with Uber will help address the \u2018first mile\/last mile\u2019 challenge for customers who need a quick and easy way to get to and from a Metra station.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The partnership will be the first time Metra\u00a0has entered into an agreement that will not only generate non-fare revenue but will also attract customers\u00a0who need a first-mile\/last-mile connection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe already know that many Chicagoland residents use Uber to get to and from public transit stations during the first or last mile of their commutes. By embarking on this first-of-its-kind marketing partnership with Metra, we hope to encourage even more Chicago residents to opt into multi-modal transit options instead of driving solo,&#8221; said\u00a0Marco McCottry, general manager of Uber in Illinois and Indiana. &#8216;When more people choose to share the ride instead of driving themselves, we can reduce congestion and pollution in our city.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Uber\u2019s name will be featured on a wide range of promotional materials, including posters displayed at train stations and on Metra trains, timetables, mailing inserts and at ticket office windows, officials said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The rideshare company&#8217;s message will be featured on the railroad&#8217;s\u00a0website, social media channels and in the agency\u2019s customer newsletter.
